The receptionist will take your name, best telephone number to contact you on, and ask you in confidence a brief description of your symptoms and an up to day contact telephone, its one appointment for one problem.
Same day urgent GP telephone appointments are released at 8am for the morning and 2pm for the afternoon. If you are booked in for your telephone appointment in the morning the GP will ring you before 2pm. If you are booked in for your telephone appointment in the afternoon the GP will ring you between 2pm and 6pm. You will not be given a stated time.
Same Day Urgent appointments are 1 appointment for 1 problem, these are 5 minute appointments for problems that need urgent, on the day medical attention. ie. chest infection, UTI’s, conditions that may need antibiotics. This service is not suitable for the request of extending sick notes, medication changes or multiple medical problems.
The Doctor will attempt to call you 3 times. If you are unable to answer your phone on the 3rd occasion, your telephone appointment will be marked as DNA (Did not attend) and you will need to call again and make another appointment.
Please remember if you have given a mobile number for the Doctor to call you please keep your phone charged and in range.
If you need a face to face GP Appointment this will be arranged by the GP.
Missed face to face appointments that are booked by the GP waste valuable clinical time. If you are not able to make your appointment, please do call us to let us know, as we may be able to offer your appointment to another patient, even up to the last minute, though we would prefer as much notice as possible.
