New BEMS Improving Access Appointments Service
Update: 01/04/2019 – the service for Bath is based at Oldfield Surgery for the next 3 months
BEMS started providing the Improving Access (IA) service from 1 October 2018 for most practices in B&NES. This service is for patients needing routine, bookable in advance, core primary care services. We have clinics available at each IA site and patients can book into them via their GP practice receptionists. GP practice receptionists will also have a live list of the services we are providing. The plan is to have appointments available 6-9pm Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday mornings at Elm Hayes and Oldfield Surgery/Widcombe Surgery, Saturday mornings only at St Augustine’s in Keynsham. We plan to have GPs and nurse appointments and the service will not run without GPs. We are still working with nurses to start filling the shifts.
In the meantime, your GP practice receptionists will be able to see exactly which clinics are available at each site, and with whom, as we build the service up. They will also have the evolving list of core primary care services we can provide.
The staff working in the Improving Access sites will have access to your GP practice patient record if you have given permission to share.
We welcome any feedback from patients using the Improving Access service, please email us on email@example.com.
